Story
With a sustainable ethos in mind, we set upon reimagining a discarded train carriage and turning it into a boutique, off-grid stay. An inside-meets-outside retreat. The bush setting on our property shares views of the Southern Ocean and the majestic Mount Greenly and is a romantic destination to ignite, inspire and find solitude.
Set with the task to repurpose, up-cycle and maintain a small footprint, we've filled the train carriage with the warmth of hand-collected vintage furnishings, each with lives lived beyond the carriage's walls.
The inside is lined with cladding we sourced using dormant timber and milled nearby, as were the towering hardwood decking posts which provide the foundation for the carriage's expansive deck. Hundreds of trees have been planted since the project began to revegetate the surrounding area, not only to restore the land but further nestle guests away into countryside.
The Greenly Carriage is fresh escape ready for guests to recoup after a busy day exploring the isolated coastline, dining on world famous seafood (even freshly caught) or a place to watch the weather roll in by the warmth and comfort of the fireplace.
